Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to be organized?

It's very simple: it's what makes it easier for you to live your life the way you want to live it.

There are no hard and fast rules. One person's foolproof system can be somebody else's nightmare. The key is to figure out what works for you and then to stick with it.

A good organizing system blends into your life so smoothly that you don't even notice it.

How does it work?

Every situation is different, and our highly personalized service will be tailored precisely to yours. This is not a cookie-cutter operation.

It may or may not fit what you saw in a magazine, read in a book about organizing, or viewed on TV.

We'll first discuss your concerns and what you hope to accomplish, then work out a plan to meet those goals. You'll be directly involved in priorities, plans, choices and decisions—including what to keep, what to donate, and what can be recycled or discarded.

Everything we decide to do will be geared toward the way that you want to live and the way that you want to use and access your stuff.

Organizing sessions will be scheduled at mutually convenient times, generally in three-hour segments and/or six-hour days.

How long does it take?

This is also tailored to you and your situation. Obviously, a full-house makeover takes longer than a linen closet, but how quickly we can move is up to you.

Some folks like to plunge into a major job and work it straight through. Others prefer to schedule weekly sessions. Things move more quickly if you're able to continue work between sessions, though that may not always be possible.

Do I need a lot of fancy materials?

As much as possible, we'll work with what you already have. Often we can find new uses or locations for things and repurpose them. And it's not uncommon for people who want to be better organized to already have bought organizing units or systems that either aren't yet in place or being efficiently used.

Every project is different and every budget is different. Our job together is to figure out what will work for you—and then to do it!
